Welcome to Wyndeway Shetland Sheepdogs.  We are an established breeder of Shetland Sheepdogs and take great pride in all of our dogs.  We are breeders of lifelong loving companions, breed Champions, agility, obedience, rally and herding titled Shelties.  Our puppies are raised in our home from health tested parents. Hips (OFA), Eyes (CERF/OFA), MDR-1 (MSU), Vwd (VetGen), thyroid and DMS plus temperament tested (Volhard Puppy Aptitude Test).  We are located near the Canadian border in the beautiful Thousand Islands on 800-acres of this gorgeous area.  I have been an AKC certified Canine Good Citizen tester since onset of program.  (http://www.akc.org/dog-owners/training/canine-good-citizen)  CGC classes and Testing (as well as S.T.A.R. Puppy, CGCA, CGCU, Trick Dog classes/ testing).  For more information, e-mail for appointment.  In addition to CGC, I am an ATT, AKC Farm Dog judge and AKC Canine Ambassador.  Recently one of my dogs, Victor, and myself have started a venture in Therapy Dog work with Alzheimer and Dementia patients once a month.  The patients seem to enjoy his presence and seem to be stimulated by him in a variety of ways.  His Therapy Dpog work has expanded to the Storytime program at our library, a Dog Safety Course at our library as well as helping students at one of the local schools.

Our puppies are loved even before birth. We take great pride in the care and selection of their parents and the care they receive while preparing for their forever homes. Puppies are identified in order of their birth and given a Velcro collar so we know who each one is. Initial health assessment, weight, color, time of birth are recorded and puppy tagged within seconds of their momma's initial inspection.  Charts are kept for each puppy assessing it's growth and notes of interest are made. All puppies visit the Thousand Island Animal Hospital for initial check-up at 2 days old with mom to make sure all is well.  The puppies full veterinary assessment is given at 6 weeks of age for first worming and shots then again before they go to new homes. My gang just loves Dr. Carla Bender and her staff.  Check them out at http://www.1000islandanimalhospital.com.

All the shelties used in our breeding program are OFA hips good or excellent, VetGen vWD clear (bleeding disorder), normal CERF (Collie Eye Syndrome), OFA thyroid normal, MDR1 N/N (Drug Sensitivity), DMS (low risk) and temperament tested.  Make sure that any breeder you decide to buy a puppy from has done all of these tests on the breeding dogs and puppies that they sell.  Ask to see testing reults of all dogs that have and are used in breeding practices plus all puppies produced by these breedings.  It is imperative that these tests be done prior to breeding.  Any breeder that lacks doing any or all these tests on their dogs is not a reputable breeder.

We are a small breeder of Shetland Sheepdogs and we breed in accordance to the American Shetland Sheepdog Association standard which can be found at http://www.assa.org/standard.html.  We put extreme emphasis on the whole sheltie and that includes the temperament.  Any male or female that does not have a stable, lovable, and easy to live with temperament will not be incorporated into our breeding program!

At Wyndeway we triple register our shelties used in our breeding program with AKC, CKC, and UKC.  I have been showing and breeding shelties for over 25 years.  I have shown them in Agility, Conformation, Obedience and Rally Competitions in AKC/ CKC/ UKC All Breed Dog Shows as well as well AKC and CKC Shetland Sheepdog Specialties and Nationals in the past. Presently I show in Conformation, Rally, Obedience and all types of CGC events at AKC/ CKC/ UKC events as well as Canadian and American Shetland Sheepdog Nationals.

The most important aspect of our shelties is that they are family companions first and they live in the house with us at all times. In addition to dog shows, we also try to get CGCs and even TDIs on some of our shelties here.  This is important to us because I am an AKC registered CGC Instructor/Tester, CGCA Instructor/Tester, CGCU Instructor/ Tester and S.T.A.R. Puppy Instructor/Tester. I am available for classes and testing.  Just give me an e-mail.

We are located in Alexandria Bay which is approximately 90 miles north of Syracuse, NY and just 5 minutes from the Saint Lawrence river as well as 15 minutes from the Canadian Boarder.  We are situated out in the country on 800-acres of open fields, pastures, ponds, streams and forest.  We have a 1/4-acre fenced play yard for our shelties to run and play in.  We take advantage of the open fields where we take our dogs for daily walks (off lead and as a group). All our shelties are home raised and are an important part of our family. By choice we try to limit our numbers to 6 shelties or less so that each one can get the attention they so deserve since we know shelties can be a bit demanding when it comes to wanting personal attention.
